Senior Scientist Medicinal Chemistry

Divergence is seeking a medicinal chemist to participate in our agrochemical lead-finding and lead-optimization projects. The ideal candidate must have a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related discipline with 5 or more years experience in pesticide or drug discovery. This experience should include at least 3 years working on small-molecule research and development projects with crop chemistry experience preferred.

Candidates should have strong practical experience in computer-aided drug design methodologies such as ligand-based modeling, pharmacophore searching, SAR analysis, and de novo compound and cheminformatic-guided library design. Familiarity with the prediction of compound ADME properties and the prediction of toxicophores is desirable.

The successful candidate will work closely with our internal discovery group as well as interface with external synthetic chemistry and cheminformatics collaborators. Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills are required along with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment. Familiarity with drafting of patent applications is a strong plus, and programming experience is desirable.

Molecular Biology Research Associate

Divergence is seeking a full time Research Associate to work with our molecular biology team.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not restricted to: cloning, sequencing, organization and archiving of constructs, as well as other molecular biological techniques as needed.

Qualifications desired:
Laboratory experience of two or more years in molecular biology techniques is required. Necessary skills include PCR, PAGE gel electrophoresis and oligonucleotide design. Familiarity with software for spreadsheets, databases and molecular analysis is essential. Experience with medium- or high-throughput biological screening techniques is a plus. Demonstrated ability to work independently, troubleshoot experimental problems and critically analyze laboratory data is necessary. The ideal candidate should thrive on working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills are critical.

Nematode-Plant Interaction Scientist

Divergence, Inc. is a biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of proprietary, ecologically sound products for the safe and effective control of parasitic diseases and other pests in agriculture and medicine.

Divergence is seeking a full time Scientist or Postdoctoral Scientist to work with our transgenic discovery team.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, development of assays and evaluation of resistance genes for plant parasitic nematode control.

Qualifications desired:
Candidates should be recently graduated Ph.D. (for Postdoctoral title) or Ph.D. with postdoctoral experience (for Scientist title) in plant pathology or a related discipline.

Highly motivated individuals with a strong background in molecular plant-microbe interactions, plant molecular biology and/or genetics are encouraged to apply. Expertise in transgenic plant, plant parasitic nematode/plant molecular biology is desirable. Candidates should also have strong practical experience in conducting molecular biological experiments such as gene cloning and Northern/Southern blot analysis.

Plant Research Associate

Divergence, Inc. is a biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of proprietary, ecologically sound products for the safe and effective control of parasitic diseases and other pests in agriculture and medicine.

Divergence is seeking a full time Research Associate to work with our plant research team discovering new technologies for the control of nematode and fungal pests of plants.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the conduct of laboratory and greenhouse plant/pest efficacy trials, development of new techniques and assays, and the maintenance of plant pest cultures. Maintenance and analysis of experimental data will also be required.

Qualifications desired:
Candidates should hold a bachelors or masters degree in agronomy, horticulture, nematology, plant pathology or related fields.

Experience with nematodes and fungi is desirable but not required.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team, but must be self motivated and able to work independently and precisely. Strong attention to detail is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are expected, along with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
